This annual reunion was held at the College on Saturday 14th March 2009. Ex-students from New Zealand, South Australia, Queensland and from around NSW gathered in St Brigid’s Chapel for a Mass by Fr Peter McGrath, followed by a luncheon in Bowie Hall. This reunion also celebrated the 40 and 50 year reunions for the Classes of 1969 and 1959. For a full report on this reunion kindly see Issue 1, 2009 of the Bridge on this website from May 2009.
Over forty students from the Class of 1999 and seven staff, both past and present, met at the Soho Bar to celebrate their ten-year reunion. Many had travelled from interstate to be there, while many others could not attend as they are working and living overseas. This group represents a broad range of interests and careers - pharmacy, advertising, paediatrics, outdoor education, tax accountancy, events managements, public relations, sociology, media, parenting - just to name a few. Many found that their interests and passions took them in different directions to the courses they had initially chosen on leaving Brigidine; but it is Brigidine that still binds them to each other.
They came from Singapore, Canada and all over Australia to celebrate 20 years since leaving Brigidine. Many took the opportunity to do a tour of the College where they met with former staff - Sr Maureen Keady csb, Sr Anita Murray csb, Margaret Cook, Moira Spiteri and Eniko Sweeting. Other staff joined the reunion at the Dome Bar in the city for a fun-filled evening.
Class Of 1979: 30 Year Reunion
This reunion attracted ex-students from the UK, interstate and also from rural NSW. After a self-guided tour of the College in the afternoon, where they also met with former staff, thirty-five reunited at the Cabana Bar in Crows Nest for a very noisy and very successful reunion. This “coolest most youthful & interesting looking bunch of women” now plan to have another reunion to celebrate 35 years in 2014.
Class of 1969: 40 Year Reunion
From a class of thirteen graduates, nine former students from South Australia, Queensland and NSW met at the College for a tour before getting together for lunch in St Ives. For some it was the first time that they had returned to the school in over 40 years, so there was much to see and even more to chat about. So successful was the reunion that this group plan to meet more regularly and to join the Pioneers’ Reunion in March 2010.
