The Curriculum

Overview

As educators we recognize the explosion of knowledge faced by our students in a technologically driven, information rich and interconnected society.

Students now, as never before, have access to a  wide range of learning media and styles. Through interactive learning, students can master the essential skills of being able to sift material to synthesize it into meaningful pieces, to link it with other learning, to apply and extend it into other contexts and to solve problems and analyse issues.

As they leave school, students need not only to have the marks to admit them to their preferred courses, but also those skills which will help them adapt to a wide range of future possibilities – problem solving, decision making, confidence and self-reliance.

The students learn in a collaborative and co-operative environment which caters for the different learning styles of girls. Both the academically challenged and academically gifted are supported through a Learning Support programme and an Honours programme.

The Macquarie University School Partners Program

This program is a partnership between Brigidine and the University. The program offers a variety of benefits and opportunities including Macquarie University library borrowing privileges for all teachers to enhance their professional learning, Macquarie University Scholarships and Preferred Admission Scheme, participation in the Student Leadership Day, a Gifted and Talented Student Program and sponsorship of an annual Academic Prize.

Brigidine staff and students are able to utilise the wide variety of resources and services Macquarie University has to offer. Further details are available at the school partners website www.schoolpartners.mq.edu.au
