Brigidine Values – Compassion

Published 10 August 2016

Meet Year 12 student Dani who introduces us to social justice at Brigidine. In essence, where Brigidine students give something back to the community.

Dani explains how each year group is involved with a charity, from fundraising to providing hands-on help with projects. She also introduces us to immersion programs where you can organise a trip overseas to countries such as Laos, Cambodia or Vietnam. You have the opportunity to work with less fortunate communities or help schools with their basic needs. Highlighting areas in our life we take for granted.

At Brigidine our girls are encouraged to make a difference to other people’s lives. Brigidine’s compassionate philosophy is embedded in our school culture, you can see it in friendship groups, mentor programs, the diversity of students and school camps. The Brigidine culture inspires you to make positive changes in the world.

Brigidine girls can become women who are confident to stand-up for what they believe in. And this is how Brigidine helped me become the woman I am today – Fortiter et Suaviter – Strength and Gentleness.

Brigidine Values – Confidence

Meet one of our Alumni members who now enjoys her time as a Marketing Manager at Qantas and explains how Brigidine gave her the confidence to make her dreams a reality. With a dream to pursue a career in business, Andree made the most of every school opportunity available and to take on new experiences and challenges. Brigidine allowed you “to do the things you thought were impossible”.

Brigidine teachers are passionate and supportive, always encouraging you to ‘have a go’ and to take risks. Whether it be in drama, sport or academically. The culture “allowed me to push myself to the limit and experience failures within a supportive and caring environment”.

Brigidine was there to allow me to build my self-belief and to have the strength to navigate my own course of life.

Brigidine Values – Courage

Published 10 August 2016

2015 Year 12 student Maddi reveals the courage she developed whilst at Brigidine College. I walked through the gates of Brigidine College as a shy, introverted Year 7 student, wondering whether I would fit in. I cannot explain the feeling of the ‘doors just opened up’, I made new friends, joined the hockey team, joined the drama club and even was part of the mathematics extension class. For someone afraid of heights, I was leading a group up mountains as part of my Duke of Edinburgh program. I felt a like a winner.

I can now lead my life with the knowledge that when faced with obstacles I have the courage to overcome them and not be afraid to speak up or step outside my comfort zone. I have the strength to face challenges and Brigidine provides the framework and support to do that.

Why choose a girl’s school?

Published 14 March 2017

“Girls hold every leadership position in girls’ schools – in the classroom, on the stage and on the sporting field. They achieve greater academic success, and are more confident and assertive in single-sex environments. They are also more likely to study in the areas of science, technology, engineering and maths, to pursue a career in these non-traditional areas, and to participate and perform at high levels in sport and physical education”.
