Last week, our Year 8 Science students explored the world of Virtual Reality, working together to deepen their understanding of atomic bonding and molecular structures.
The VR system enabled students to interact within a 3-D environment to build molecules by manipulating individual atoms and collaborating with their peers. As well as being highly engaging and motivating, the experience encouraged students to learn together, ask questions and explore the real-world shape and behaviour of molecules such as caffeine, while strengthening their understanding of atomic bonding.
At Brigidine, we are always looking for innovative ways to engage students in their learning. In a world where information is readily available, but not always reliable, fostering curiosity, critical thinking and intrinsic motivation is more important than ever. Research shows that success in subjects such as Science is closely linked to student engagement, and the use of Virtual Reality is just one of the ways we bring learning to life in the classroom.
