This week we farewell members of staff leaving Brigidine in 2023 to move beyond our community to new horizons and new school communities.

In acknowledging each of these teachers we thank them for their contribution to our college community and we wish them every success and blessing in the future.

  • We wish Ms Anne Reading all the best for the upcoming birth of her second child. She will be on maternity for Terms 1-3 in 2024.
  • Mrs Angie Olver taking a year’s leave in 2024.
  • Thanks to Mrs Anu Peramunetilleke, Mr Branden Garrett and Mrs Sue Frawley who have worked at Brigidine in 2023 on temporary contracts.
  • Mrs Megan Brown has been at Brigidine over the last six years in the TAS department.
  • Mr Byron Usmar who leaves Brigidine for Queenwood after 12 years.
  • Mrs Kate Barnes who is moving to Meridan School after six years with us.
  • Mr Hugh Morgan who is moving to Shore school after five years at Brigidine.
  • Mrs Meredith Ferris who is relocating to Central Coast Steiner School.
  • Mrs Lindsey Wright who is relocating to Queensland.
  • Mr David Chant retired earlier this year.
  • Mrs Ros Boyd retired from teaching at the end of Term 3 2023 after 34 years at Brigidine.
  • Mrs Sylvia Bonner our Science Lab assistant who is retiring
  • Ms Suzanne Maitland, Administrative Assistant with our Community Engagement Department.

Special thanks to Mrs Vicki Scott – Principal’s PA who is retiring after 23 years and working with the last five principals here at Brigidine.

We thank all these staff members for their commitment and support of the students and staff at Brigidine during their time with us and the expertise they have brought to their roles that has enriched our College community. We wish them well as they embark on their next chapter.

As a College community we are incredibly grateful for the generous support, time and energy our Parents and Friends give to us. Thank you to our outgoing committee members Barb La Ganza and Debbie Jenkins for their valuable contribution.

As a College community, we have appreciated the Parents and Friends commitment to fundraising for us and their willingness to help create and extend the values of welcome and hospitality at Brigidine. Thank you to Brigidine College staff who actively support this group, Mrs Pip Inman who is our Alumni and Community Relations Coordinator, who is also a previous Brigidine parent and P&F President and Mrs Mandy Loomes our Director Community Engagement.

The vision, support and good humour of our Parents and Friends Committee echo throughout our whole Brigidine parent community. Thank you for your support of Brigidine staff as we journey with you and your daughters. We could not do the work we do without your partnership. We look forward to many opportunities to connect with you in 2024.

Thank you to our College Board of Directors who give so generously of their time to work with us in the governance and smooth running of our college. We bid farewell to our Board Chair Mrs Kitty Guerin who has led our College Board for the last nine years and has supported our College community with vision and wisdom. We are grateful for her leadership and wish her well. We also say farewell and thank Mr Craig Tucker who has been a Board Director and member of our Board Property Committee. We are grateful for his contribution particularly during the process of preparing our next master plan for College facilities.

I would like to thank my Leadership team for their ongoing support during this year at Brigidine – Deputy Principals Ms Leone Smyth and Mr Brian Loughland, Directors – Mr Ed Codsi, Ms Mandy Loomes, Mrs Pamela Malone, Mrs Sia Mastro, Mr Owen Vale and Business Manager Mr Richard Luxford. Thank you to the College Board and parents and families of Brigidine College for your continued support in all that we do.

Wishing all our students and their families a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday break. We look forward with anticipation of a new school year in 2024 when we will celebrate our 70th anniversary as Brigidine College!
