“A good father will leave his imprint on his daughter for the rest of her life.” — Dr James Dobson.
Fatherhood is both a privilege and a blessing. On Father’s Day each year we remember and celebrate our fathers, grandfathers and other important father-figures in our lives.
To celebrate our Brigidine College fathers and other special people in our student’s lives, we will host our annual Father’s Day Breakfast and Liturgy on Friday 30 August at 7.30am in Bowie Hall. All students and their fathers or other significant people in their life, are welcome to attend this special time together.
Last week our incoming 2025 College leaders took part in a two-day Leadership camp at Narrabeen. The theme for the two days was ‘Plant your feet, make your mark, create a legacy’ which aimed to take students through the important aspects of leadership preparing them for the next 12 months of serving our community. Over the two days they explored different types of leadership styles and what good leadership looks like. They took part in activities which aimed to build skills in effective communication, managing diverse opinions and how to run successful meetings. Time was also spent on building a sense of teamwork with students sharing affirmations and meaningful moments in their lives.
Our Alumni from the Class of 2022, Lucie Cuda, Anna Harris, Tina Evanian, Monique Vassallo and Alani Barros attended on the first day sharing insights on their own leadership experience and working closely with each leadership group during the afternoon. We thank these Alumni for their time and input on the camp.
On the second day the planning for 2025 and creating a ‘legacy’ for the Class of 2025 took place. This group had many rich and exciting ideas to build spirit and engage students to enhance involvement and connection across the community.
My thanks to Mrs Nyree Lovett and Mrs Skye Wacher for all their work with the students on the Leadership camp. Our leadership model, which builds from Year 7 through to Year 12 is fostering great leadership capacity in our students. The calibre of our student leaders, and indeed the wider student body confirms that the small experiences of junior leadership create a good foundation for when they come to be College leaders in the senior school. Thank you again to Mrs Wacher for all her work in this important area of school life.
The Commissioning Ceremony for the 2025 Student Leaders will be at 8.30am on Wednesday 11 September in Bowie Hall. Parents of students in Year 11 are welcome to attend.
We look forward to their time as leaders building on the outstanding efforts of the Class of 2024 who have set a wonderful standard for all to aspire to.
