Welcome back to Term 4!
It has been wonderful to see the energy and enthusiasm as students have returned to school this week.
As we start this final term of 2024, we keep Year 12 students in our thoughts and prayers as they continue with their personal study and preparation for the HSC exams which started this week.
We are proud and excited to share that a number of the Class of 2024 have been nominated for a range of NESA HSC Showcases for excellence in Textiles and the Performing Arts.
Congratulations to Nina Vinci, Jana Weingartner, Ellie Taylor and Caitlin Walley who have been nominated for CALLBACK (HSC Dance) to the students who have been nominated for OnSTAGE (HSC Drama) for individual and group performances: Natasha Townley, Indie Smith, Emily Guerrera, Roseanna Huang, Lizelle Jeremy, Zara McCauley, Sophie McGrath, Maggie O’Sullivan, Sofia Bonadio, Lucy Forman, and Sienna Newbery. Also, to Adele Clarsen, Sophie Lowry and Poppy Wilson who have been nominated for SHAPE (HSC Textiles)
Congratulations on this outstanding effort by both the students and their teachers.
Early offers of entry to students of the Class of 2024 have already been made by Macquarie University. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to have locked in their course of study prior to their HSC exams. We are anticipating additional early entry offers for this cohort from a variety of other universities including ACU (Australian Catholic University), Notre Dame, Sydney University, University of Wollongong, University of Newcastle, Charles Sturt and Sothern Cross University.
Congratulations to Jacinta Williams whose short story, The Socratic Method has been shortlisted in the Dymocks Beyond Words competition, which is very exciting. Jacinta’s work was based on a piece of writing she wrote for her Preliminary Extension 1 creative writing assessment. Her story, alongside the other long listed stories, can be found here: https://beyondwords.dymockstutoring.edu.au/winners-works-2024/
Our first Assembly this term recognised outstanding students in sport and students receiving Principal’s Awards. Congratulations to all those students who received this recognition. The Awardees are named in this issue of Matters.
Our Year 10 students are now in senior uniform ready for the next steps they will take into senior school. Year 11 students will transition into Year 12 2025 HSC courses as accelerated subjects following the return of their assessment results from the end of Term 3. We wish them all the best as they embark on their HSC journey in these subjects.
A busy term awaits staff and students at Brigidine. We look forward to welcoming parents, family and friends joining us at the College for the events of Term 4.
