Launching Our Learning and Wellbeing Framework: Ready for Success in 2025

In 2025, we are proud to launch our Learning and Wellbeing Framework, a whole-school approach designed to support students in becoming well-rounded, values-driven individuals. Based on our Brigidine heritage and Kildare values, this framework connects all aspects of learning and wellbeing, providing a common language and clear structure to help students grow academically, spiritually, socially and emotionally.

At its heart, the framework recognises that learning happens everywhere and at any time—not just in the classroom and school-based activities – but also through friendships, challenges, setbacks, and new experiences. Learning is inseparable from wellbeing. When students feel supported, confident, and capable, they are more engaged, resilient, and open to growth. The framework provides a holistic approach to education, ensuring that students are not only achieving academically but also developing the emotional and social skills needed to thrive.

Built around five key graduate attributes — Curious, Capable, Confident, Courageous, and Compassionate—the framework encourages students to take ownership of their learning and personal development through the four phases of Ready, Grow, Measure and Reflect.

Each term this year, we will focus on a different phase of the framework, beginning in Term 1 with Ready.

What Does It Mean to Be Ready?

Starting a new school year brings excitement and fresh opportunities—new classes, teachers, friendships and cocurricular activities. However, it can also be a time of uncertainty and anxiety for some students. Adjusting to change can be challenging, but developing resilience, organisation skills, and a positive mindset will help them navigate these transitions successfully.

Readiness is about more than just being academically prepared. A Ready student understands that success comes from balance, knowing when to push themselves and when to take a step back and recharge. They:

  • Arrive at school well-rested, nourished and prepared for the day
  • Manage their time effectively and approach learning with a positive mindset
  • Embrace new experiences with an open and focused attitude
  • Follow routines that support personal growth and organisation
  • Regulate emotions and contribute to a respectful, inclusive environment
  • Recognise the importance of wellbeing in maintaining focus and motivation.

How Parents Can Support Readiness

Parents and caregivers play a crucial role in helping students feel ready and capable. Here are some ways to support your child ensure they are Ready for learning at school.

  • Encourage Healthy Routines – Ensure they get enough sleep, eat well, and have a structured daily routine that supports both learning and wellbeing.
  • Promote Organisation – Help them set up a study space, use a planner and their diary and develop time management skills.
  • Foster a Growth Mindset – Reinforce the idea that challenges and mistakes are part of learning. Encourage resilience and problem-solving.
  • Check In on Their Wellbeing – Take time to talk about their day, listen to their concerns and reassure them that it’s normal to feel a mix of emotions at different times. Encourage them to take breaks when needed.
  • Support New Connections – Encourage them to join clubs, activities, sports or study groups to expand their social circles and develop confidence.

By focusing on Ready in Term 1, we are setting the foundation for a year of growth, resilience and success. Through this framework we are equipping students not just with academic skills, but with the habits and mindsets that will support them for life.

Let’s work together to ensure that every student is ready to learn, ready to connect and ready to thrive in 2025.
